Mylar Abrasive Sheet
$20
If your pen is not as smooth as you would like and you know that the tines are aligned — these Mylar sheets can be used to smooth your nib. The superfine abrasive is so fine that it does not feel abrasive to touch. The sheets have a shiny and a dull side — the dull side is the abrasive side.
To start with, have patience and a gentle touch — it will take a little practice. Place the shiny side down on your desk. Hold the pen normally and ensure there is ink in it. Initially, check how your pen feels on smooth paper — make figure of eight patterns about 12mm tall. Then, with a gentle touch, do the same on the mylar sheet — do 8–10 on top of each other. Then check your pen the same way on the paper. Repeat until the pen writes the way you want it to. Start by using the 1.0 (green) and finish with the 0.3 (white). Remember — have patience and work slowly.

Meet Karen
Karen earned her pen licence in primary school in the 1960s, and fountain pens stuck with her. She learnt italic calligraphy as a teenager and came back to pens years later as a hobby. When she saw how hard good entry-level pens were to find in Australia, she started Blue Wattle Pens.
